Terms of Service

Last updated 23 October 2026

These terms cover using the MacWipe app and buying a MacWipe subscription. Please read them before you subscribe. Nothing in them affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Who we are

MacWipe is a trading name of Selfound Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 16450921. Our registered office is Unit 82a James Carter Road, Mildenhall, Bury St. Edmunds, England, IP28 7DE. You can reach us at support@macwipe.com.

Who you buy from

On macwipe.com

Subscriptions bought on macwipe.com are sold by Stripe, which acts as the merchant of record and reseller. The Stripe company that sells to you is named at checkout and on your receipt. Stripe takes your payment, charges any VAT or sales tax, and sends your receipts and invoices, and the buyer terms Stripe shows at checkout apply to the payment itself. Selfound Ltd provides the app, your licence keys and support, and these terms apply to those.

On the Mac App Store

If you subscribe in the Mac App Store edition, you buy from Apple. Payment, renewal, cancellation and refunds are handled by Apple under its own terms, and Apple's standard licence agreement for App Store apps applies to that edition. These terms apply too, where they don't conflict with Apple's.

The two editions are separate products. A subscription bought in one doesn't unlock the other.

What's free

Downloading MacWipe is free, and scanning is free in both editions with no time limit. You can also do one clean for free. After that, cleaning needs a subscription.

Plans and prices

  • Yearly: £23.99 a year (works out at £2 a month).
  • Every 3 months: £11.97 every three months (£3.99 a month).

Prices include VAT or sales tax. The same numbers apply in US dollars and euros ($23.99 or €23.99 a year; $11.97 or €11.97 every three months). The price you pay is shown before you confirm the purchase.

Renewal and cancelling

Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, and the card on file is charged, until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your Account page on macwipe.com: choose Manage billing to open the Stripe billing portal, where you can also update your card and download invoices. When you cancel, the subscription stays active until the end of the period you've paid for, and then doesn't renew.

If we change our prices, the new price applies from your next renewal, and we will email you at least 30 days before it does, so you have time to cancel.

Up to 3 Macs

Each subscription covers up to 3 Macs, so you can share it with your family. You get three licence keys, shown on your Account page and in your welcome email. Each key works on one Mac at a time. You can also activate a Mac by signing in to the app with your email.

To move a key to a different Mac, reset it from your Account page or use the app's "replace a Mac" option. Each key can be reset up to 5 times in 30 days; if you need more, write to support@macwipe.com. A Mac that hasn't checked in for 180 days is released automatically, and its key becomes free again.

The app checks your licence about once a day. If your Mac is offline, cleaning keeps working for up to 14 days before the app needs to check in again.

If your subscription ends

If a renewal payment fails, Stripe tries to collect it again and your subscription keeps working for 14 days while it does. If your subscription ends, or the payment still can't be collected after those 14 days, scanning keeps working and cleaning locks. Nothing on your Mac is removed. If you subscribe again with the same account, your keys and your Macs work again without re-activating.

Refunds

14-day money-back promise. If MacWipe isn't for you, write to support@macwipe.com within 14 days of your first payment on macwipe.com and we will arrange a full refund. You don't need to give a reason. Stripe, as merchant of record, sends the refund to your original payment method.

Renewal payments aren't refunded, except where the law gives you a right to a refund (for example, if MacWipe is faulty). Cancel before your renewal date to avoid being charged.

If you're a consumer in the UK or EU, the law usually gives you 14 days to cancel a purchase of digital content. That right ends once you start using the paid features with your agreement at checkout. Our money-back promise covers the same 14 days whether or not you've started using them.

When a payment is refunded in full, the subscription ends and its keys stop working.

Refunds for App Store purchases are requested from Apple.

Using MacWipe fairly

When you use MacWipe, you agree not to:

  • use one subscription on more than 3 Macs, or share or sell keys outside your household;
  • get around, disable or tamper with the licence checks, or create or use keys or licences we didn't issue;
  • interfere with macwipe.com or its licence server, or send it automated requests in bulk;
  • post comments on the blog that are unlawful, abusive or spam.

If keys are used against these terms, we may reset or revoke them. We will tell you first unless the misuse is serious, and refunds stay subject to your statutory rights. We may remove blog comments that break these terms.

What you remove is your choice

MacWipe shows you every item before it removes anything, and nothing is removed until you confirm. Most removals move items to the Trash, or to quarantine, where you can restore them. Some actions are permanent, such as emptying the Trash, and the app names the action before you confirm it.

You decide what to remove, so please review the list before you confirm, and keep a backup of anything important (Time Machine is built into macOS).

Our responsibility to you

We will provide MacWipe with reasonable care and skill, and it will be as described. If it's faulty, you have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including a repair, a replacement or a refund, and compensation if faulty digital content we supplied damages your device or other digital content and we didn't use reasonable care and skill.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.

Otherwise, we are not responsible for losses that weren't foreseeable when you subscribed, or for files you chose to remove after the app showed them to you. Where the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for MacWipe in the 12 months before the claim.

MacWipe is made for personal use. If you use it for business, we aren't liable for loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill, data or business interruption, or for any indirect or consequential loss, and the same limit on our total liability applies.

Changes to the service and these terms

We may update MacWipe and these terms from time to time. If a change to these terms affects you significantly, we will email you before it takes effect; if you don't agree, you can cancel before your next renewal. The date at the top shows the latest version.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes go to the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts. If you live in the EU, you keep the protections of your local consumer law.
